SMA STAFF SPOTLIGHT | MEET MRS. TERESA BUTLER - Preschool Director & Admissions

Mrs. Butler graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with her Bachelors Degree in English and History. She has been a part of the Mother of Good Counsel / Saint Mary Academy communities since 2004. She began her career as a 4-year old assistant teacher, followed by lead teacher in the 3's and 4's classrooms and then became Preschool Director. Mrs. Butler also coached the MGC/SMA Archery team for 12 years.

In her spare time, Mrs. Butler loves to read and spend time with her family (especially her two granddaughters) and friends. She also loves to travel, and she is a big Disney fan!

Christian Unity Week is next week, Archbishop Shelton has asked religion teachers within the Archdiocese to cover a Catholic Social Teaching lesson in order to be a steward of our faith values

Saint Mary Academy has used our 5 online learning days and our 1 previously built-in snow day granted by the Archdiocese. These 5 days count as school days that do not need to be made up. Should SMA experience any additional snow days this winter, they will be considered “true” snow days with no online work requirements. In addition, we would need to make up these days in the 2024-2025 school year calendar. If we do not have any further snow days this winter, then we do not have any “snow days” to make up in this calendar year. Following are the calendar days that would be used to make up any future potential snow days, in calendar order:

Monday, April 21 (Easter Monday)

Friday, May 2 (Oaks Day)

Additional days as needed the week of May 27th

Middle School parents are invited to attend our Middle School SMA Idol performances on Wednesday, February 19th from 11:00 - 11:45am in the SMA gym. House students will perform their coordinated dances to an animated Disney song theme. A panel of judges will help select the top 3 winning Houses. Students should wear their House shirts with uniform bottoms with any approved props and accessories.

We invite all of our wonderful SMA volunteers to join us for a special blessing during our all-school Mass followed by an appreciation breakfast on Thursday, January 30th! Mass takes place at 8:15am and the appreciation breakfast will take place directly following in the Soubirous Room located inside the Parish Center. Coffee and donuts will be provided. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your dedication, time, and tireless efforts to support us at SMA, your contributions help create an environment where our school thrives. We are so fortunate to have such passionate volunteers and we look forward to showing our appreciation! Please complete your RSVP by Monday, January 27th.
