Registration ($65) will close on Friday, February 14, 2025 . REGISTRATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER 2/15/2024. Please sign your child up as soon as possible! We need coaches at all K-8 grade levels. Registration for coaches and players can be found on the CSAA Gameday website, https://gameday.loucsaa.net.

Mrs. Feltner has been teaching kindergarten for 18 years at SMA. She has a business degree from Transylvania University and a Masters Degree from Bellarmine in Education. Initially, she started her career in advertising and worked for Power Creative for 12 years before switching over to teaching. Mrs. Feltner truly believes that she was called into the teaching profession. She is amazed at her kindergarteners’ love for learning. It is incredible to see the amount of progress students make over the year, especially in reading.

When Mrs. Feltner is not at work, she loves being with her family which consists of her husband Larry, and her two sons Matthew and Jacob. She also has a red heeler named Bentley and a blue heeler mix named Oreo. For fun, she enjoys reading, going to the movies late at night, and exercising. Mrs. Feltner is also a big UK fan and has season football tickets.

Reach Alert Communication System

We understand the importance of communicating with you to ensure that we keep you in the loop regarding events affecting our school. As a result, we are pleased to announce that we are initiating a new text alert and notification service called REACH Alert.

This service will allow us to immediately share important information regarding a number of items, including weather-related closings/delays, possible lockdowns, bus communications, after-school activities, etc. Anything that might impact our school family can be shared in a matter of seconds.

Please follow these easy steps to sign up. Remember, if you don’t register, we can’t share important information with you. You decide if you want to receive a text message, voice call, or an email. Each household can register as many phone numbers and email addresses as necessary. All you need to do is:

Go to www.reachalert.com and click on Sign Up (upper right hand corner)
Network Name: type St. Mary Academy (click on our name when it appears).
Follow the prompts and enter your preferred contact information. If you already have an account with REACH Alert (several cities such as St. Matthews, Hurstbourne, Lyndon, etc., use REACH Alert), simply log-in to your current account and click on JOIN NETWORK on the right side of your dashboard page and enter St. Mary Academy).

If you register for the first time to receive text alerts and/or emails, Reach Alert will send a confirmation message to your cell phone or computer immediately upon completion of your registration. If you do not receive this message, please call Reach Alert.

Winter Conferences

Winter parent-teacher-student conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, February 12th from 1:30 - 6pm and Thursday, February 13th from 8:00am - 12:00pm. Sign ups will be live on Sycamore on Friday, January 31st at 12:00pm. Please be reminded that since the conferences are counted as an attendance day, students who do not attend the conference, for whatever reason, are counted absent

Snow Days/Online Learning Update

Saint Mary Academy has used our 5 online learning days and our 1 previously built-in snow day granted by the Archdiocese. These 5 days count as school days that do not need to be made up. Should SMA experience any additional snow days this winter, they will be considered “true” snow days with no online work requirements. In addition, we would need to make up these days in the 2024-2025 school year calendar. If we do not have any further snow days this winter, then we do not have any “snow days” to make up in this calendar year. Following are the calendar days that would be used to make up any future potential snow days, in calendar order:

Monday, April 21 (Easter Monday)

Friday, May 2 (Oaks Day)

Additional days as needed the week of May 27th

Middle School SMA Idol

Middle School parents are invited to attend our Middle School SMA Idol performances on Wednesday, February 19th from 11:00 - 11:45am in the SMA gym. House students will perform their coordinated dances to an animated Disney song theme. A panel of judges will help select the top 3 winning Houses. Students should wear their House shirts with uniform bottoms with any approved props and accessories.

SMA Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast

We invite all of our wonderful SMA volunteers to join us for a special blessing during our all-school 8:15 Mass followed by donuts and coffee in the Narthex on Thursday, January 30th! (*Please note this change in location from the previous newsletter). We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our SMA volunteers for your dedication, time, and tireless efforts to support us at SMA. Your contributions help create an environment where our school thrives. We are so fortunate to have such passionate volunteers and we look forward to showing our appreciation!

Our 4H leaders visited 4th grade this week for a valuable and innovative lesson on reducing our carbon footprint on the earth.
