Today in the Church the Body of Christ celebrates the feast of Pentecost. With this celebration comes the close to the Easter season. For the past fifty days we have been celebrating the mystery of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead and the wonderful accounts of his encounters with his disciples showing them in unique ways that he was alive again. The readings for this Sunday’s celebration mark the beginning, birth, of the “Church” as we know of it today.
As we celebrate this great feast for Catholic Christians we commemorate the coming of the Holy Spirit, the breath of God, upon the Apostles in the form of tongues of fire. From that experience on,
they gave everything that they had over to God, even their very lives, and they were rewarded with eternal life for their heroic acts of love. Are we willing to do the same for God? It is not easy to live out the Christian life we have been given to us by God. However, immersed in the love and energy of the Spirit we can do all that is asked of us by our God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

A short video for the kids! The Holy Spirit Comes!
In this video for older youth, we explore the original meaning of the biblical concept of “spirit” and what it means that God’s Spirit is personally present in all of creation. Ultimately, the Spirit was revealed through Jesus and sent out into the lives of his followers to carry out his mission.
Wow! You’ll be familiar with this music, sung in a new way and in new times. Through these Catholic artists, the Holy Spirit shares the
gift of HOPE!
